How it all started

The Idle Hour has anchored the town of Mt. Morris for many years; it’s a classic dive bar located in the heart of the downtown.  It has become well known for its live music, cajun potato salad and fresh chicken tenders; three things that haven’t changed throughout the years.

After 15 years of service industry experience and 5 years of managing The Idle Hour Megan was given the opportunity to purchase the business. Due to the love and support of the community, it was an easy decision for Megan and Britton. Megan has maintained her role in managing the bar, while Britton has stepped up to take over running the kitchen, along with sound/light management and maintenance. Through hard work and dedication to not only the business, but also the customer, we strive to provide the best service possible.

The goal is to provide our customers with a great experience.  Whether that is our food, drinks, atmosphere or service, we want to make your next trip to The Idle Hour the best.  We love this bar and the charm of Mt. Morris, we hope you can enjoy it soon.  Cheers!
